Cloud Computing: Beyond the Hype

This session will focus on answering in simple terms the key questions many are asking in their quest to understand why there is so much hype around Cloud – what are the key ingredients of Cloud Computing? And what’s different about it, what are the deployment types, and what workloads are suitable for Cloud deployment?

Phil will also cover the Enterprise Roadmap for Cloud adoption, the integration and connectivity between Cloud and legacy applications and address the significant security concerns related to the uptake of Cloud.

About Phil Sheehan

Phil Sheehan has 34 years experience in the NZ IT industry and joined IBM just over four years ago. Currently he is IBM’s local Cloud specialist while having responsibility for building and managing an ecosystem of local ISV partners.

Phil’s industry experience includes general management, marketing, sales (including Internet advertising and E-Commerce), supply chain, and software development.  He was a founding staff member of Microsoft when it established itself in NZ in 1991, before launching his own company, Out & About, an Internet city guide for Auckland, in 1998.  This was later sold to Xtra and rolled out nationwide.  More recently he has worked at Carter Holt Harvey subsidiary Oxygen.
